Meet Tony McKendry

Your local massage master therapist

My work is centred around helping you slow down, reset, and reconnect with a sense of ease in your body. Tired muscles & minds need ‘magic manipulation’ for restoration, that’s my specialty!

I offer a quiet, comfortable space where you can step away from the pace of everyday life, time that’s set aside entirely for you. Many of my clients arrive feeling mentally full, physically tense, or simply in need of a moment to breathe. This is a place where you don’t need to do anything, fix anything, or be anything other than as you are.

Each session is guided by a thoughtful, intuitive approach. Rather than following a fixed routine, I work in a way that responds to your body on the day, offering exactly what’s needed with care and attention.

Everything I offer is grounded in trust, presence, and respect for your boundaries. You’re always in control of your experience, and the space is held in a way that feels safe, calm, and supportive.

My training includes Swedish and Rebalancing massage, along with a background in counselling and support work with the Samaritans. This has shaped a more attentive, client-centred way of working, where listening, both verbal and through touch, is an essential part of the process.

I continue to develop my practice through advanced massage training, including European techniques that deepen my understanding of how touch can support both physical release and nervous system regulation.

Below is a short video from Iza, who I trained with in Amsterdam, explaining how the body responds to massage and why it can have such a profound effect.

My Massage Styles

Relaxation (Swedish): Long, flowing strokes (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), and friction to improve blood flow and relieve tension.

Purpose: Deep relaxation, muscle soreness relief, and stress reduction.

Pressure: Moderate, focusing on muscle tissue.

Therapy: This approach works more gently with the nervous system before gradually moving into the muscles.

Purpose: Mind calming, restoring a sense of mental balance.

Pressure: A lighter touch focussed on specific parts of the body that may need more attention.

Recent Training

I completed further training in Amsterdam with the fabulous Iza Wijffels. The course focused on both muscle and joint massage – European style.

Iza’s practice, With-Ease Massage, is a holistic practice designed to release deep-seated physical and emotional tension through a personalized, full-body oil massage.

This approach is deeply rooted in rebalancing massage techniques, which combine slow, mindful movements with deep tissue work to restore balance and calm to the body and mind.

Benefits of a Male Masseuse

💪 1. Deeper Pressure and Strength

Male therapists often have greater upper body strength, which can help deliver firmer, more consistent pressure. This can be particularly helpful for releasing stubborn knots, loosening tight shoulders & glutes or working on back tension.

🤲 2. Different Touch and Technique

Some people simply prefer the feeling of a male therapist’s hands — which can be broader, heavier, or more grounding. The difference in touch can create a more relaxing and therapeutic experience.

🧠 3. Professional Comfort and Communication

Many people, especially women, find that a good male therapist communicates well, explains clearly, and maintains strong professional boundaries — which helps them feel safe, respected, and cared for. It’s about trust and energy, not gender.

Some further details

My massage room is accessible through its own entrance door, located at the far side of the house, at the end of the garage. For each session, I will meet you in the dedicated welcoming area, making it easy for you to park and enter my facility.

I believe in the approach of navigating life with a positive mindset (where possible). As part of this, I believe I can help people through massage, along with listening and talking where desired. Whether you are seeking a quiet space, or a place to talk, the choice is yours.

Like many of us as we progress through life, I work from home, taking care of my other main business, hence only doing two massage appointments each day. I’m married, with three grown daughters.
